 Finished this today. ink markers on Bristol board  5"x 7"  Image size is only 4" x 6".  I signed it at an angle because I like both vertical and horizontal.  When I make most of my drawings I am always rotating it, not really knowing where the top will be.

Unfinished from 1986 - Seeking Collaboraters!

 Here are 3 works I started back in 1986 or so but never finished.  They are all too big for the scanner so I quickly took these photos.   They are on square paper, it is just that they weren't sitting perfectly flat and I took the shots at an angle to avoid flash back.
They are all Acrylic paint and black india ink on fine art paper.
Anyone interested in finishing these or just adding to it collaboratively and I finish it, please let me know!  I have big envelopes (they are actually the back drop of these photos) and I can send it to you!

My Old Friend Michal Rezanka

This is the third time I took the exception of posting other peoples art here.
I have recently become the owner of three of Michal's very early works.  Probably from 1980,1981.
The first here is a watercolor / gouache 7.25" x 12". Unsigned.

The colorful tall piece is also watercolor and is 10.5" x 6.25" and in a permanent paper mat frame.

The final one is an etching is 8.25" x 5.50" and is in a large professional matted under glass frame.

South Campus Stony Brook Art Studio

Found a sketch recently of a small area of the Stony Brook University Art Studio I shared with Michal Rezanka at the South Campus Area buildings.
This is pencil on, I think, 11 x 14 sketch book paper.
Two major elements are the Japanese style paper lamp and the bulbous odd ceramic sculpture of mine.   You can see these same elements in a painting I did around the same time HERE!
Also there is a odd fish-thing with a human face made by another student, Roseanna, who had a studio next door.

Finally found some 12 x 12 frames for some of my older work. Nice painted black metal and glass frames.
I posted this back when I finished it, but it was a scan and cropped (see it HERE), but the visual internet quality may be better on the old one.

Life Drawings - Practice, practice, practice...

At a certain point after I graduated college I often still attended Life drawing class (even though I was not registered for it) with the teacher's blessing [Robert White].
I was at a point where my confidence and technique (or talent) were at their peak.
These two drawings (of the same pose - I moved) were probably done both within 5 minutes.
I was not the type to stay in one place and draw the same image for 20 minutes.  I loved moving around in the back and finding the point of view I liked, and quickly sketching it.
 I would not be able to do this now being out of practice for so long.

A Photo of Friends

I recently found the last two sketches of my friends and I from 1988 or so.  Of course the sketches transformed them into comic characters!

Fun stuff!
All the drawings are on 14 x 17 sketch paper.
I even started a painting back then based on this photo, but got frustrated and painted it over with something else.
I just found the scan of the old photograph of the painting I painted over!

This view is a cropped down to 6.25 x 9.0.
I let the eyes appear.  I am sure you can see them too.
Alternate titles were:  "Calm Regurgitation" and "Deep Thought Verboten".
Deepness is good by me!

I was working at the second bronze sculpture foundry of my career Tallix.  This place was really cool.  I was also very much into mini-comics and mail-art at the time.  So I combined things and let them flow. 
This 16 pager was all my art except one page by my pal Ralph M. and a drawing by Dave Herman on the inside cover contents page (he also inspired 2 of the 3 Dinky Doo: Finisher pages.
I will post the other 2 pages of Dinky Doo: Finisher here soon.

Old Original Hand-carved Rubber Stamps #2

More of my old Rubber Stamps from those bygone years of Mail Art and just plain fun packaging if you happen to send me a $1 or two for my comix.
From the top left:
1. Ordered from a rubber stamp company this with the words and the font as seen.  Still a good stamp!
2.  For $5 I sent to an address on the back of  Cheerios box.  "Send a picture of yourself and we will make a rubber stamp of your moniker for only $5!" or something like that.  It actually was pretty cool and well done and I used it thousands of times!  Of course the stamp is on a yellow plastic stamp block with the Cheerios logo.  (I should take a pic of that)
3. a carved rubber stamp by an unknown person.  very well done and I do not remember how I aquired it.
4. Ditto for this skull stamp also....
5. I stamped this Aardvark thousands of times but it is now on it's last bits.... tail, snout,ears and legs have been compromised by bad storage... oh well...
6. Larry the Leper.  I carved this into an eraser.
7.dinky Doo:  I carved this into wood.  He is featured on the last panel of this comix page!
8 & 10  Psychedelic Experience carved into an eraser for Mail art Project called .. . um... just  .. guess!
9 & 11 Hands with Envelope -- Hand carved by me.

 Did this at the meetup and really like it.  I did it on the 6 x 6 bristol board but the actual image maxes out at 4.25 x 4.75.  A nice quaint size.  There is a little bit of  pencil in there too.

I love how different it looks when it is flipped 90 degrees!

I have finally caught up to actually posting every other day, with works to spare!!!!

Ink on 6 x 6 smooth bristol. Cropped on the pc to approx. 5 x5.

I'm not very impressed with it.but I liked the experimental elements enough to post it.

Old Original Hand-carved Rubber Stamps

Here is a first sample of some of the rubber stamps I carved and created back in my hard-core Mail-art period of 1986-1990. 
From top left to bottom right:
The address stamp was a drawing i sent to a company to create the rubber stamp.  The gaps on this stamping is basically rubber rot due to it being 25+years old..
The Little Aardvark popping thru the page, waving and smiling is a store bought find I couldn't resist and have used it hundreds of times!
the envelope stamp I carved from an eraser.
And I also carved the "AARDVARK MAIL"  Stamp.
The special Delivery stamp is just cool...

So I am milking it.... I have a few more hand carved rubber stamps to post in the near future.

I played with computer  art.  I used a Bamboo tablet with a Corel program and found it interesting.
The Bamboo tablet was kinda cool because it conveyed the pressure of your stylus to the strength of the line / brush-strock.

But in the end, Since I work on a computer every day - 12-days a week.  I figure that I need a break from perfection and have to keep making art using those occasionally unerasable media called ink and paint.
  Currently I am in a Artist's equililent of a writer's Block.
